Blue wash: Defending penalty area · Gold box: Marking, goal protection and second ball · Gold rings: key roles
Blue plays toward the top goal. The shaded area identifies the phase; supporting roles may sit outside it. All 22 players retain their 4-3-3 positions.
Starting picture · Blue: Northbridge · Sand: opposition · Gold rings: focus players · White dot: ball
A starting picture for the practice, with the focus players highlighted. Both teams keep their 4-3-3 roles; movement and decisions develop through live play.
Organization
Full pitch, 11v11 including goalkeepers; both teams retain 4-3-3 roles. Begin with an opponent corner and keep all players live through the clearance and any recycled delivery.
Practice task
Defensive midfielder 6 or midfielder 8 pressures the second-ball receiver when covered. Centre-backs 4 and 5 reconnect only as the ball pressure allows; full-backs 2 and 3 track runners and goalkeeper 1 resets.
What to observe
On four of six restarts, the defence prevents a free central follow-up attempt and keeps the back line connected through at least the next two opponent actions.
Progression
Attackers position two players for different second-ball routes and may immediately switch sides; defenders must pass on runners while shifting together.
